The Evolution and Advancements in Rice Bran Oil Extraction Technologies

 Rice bran oil extraction technology is an advanced production process that uses specific equipment and methods to obtain crude bran oil from rice bran. This process involves a variety of equipment, including rotary extractors, circulation extractors, drag chain extractors, desolventizers, evaporation and vapor degreasing equipment, and wax recovery equipment. These equipment work together to ensure the effective extraction of oil from rice bran.

In terms of technological advancement, the extraction of rice bran oil not only relies on traditional chemical solvent extraction methods, but also incorporates membrane technology to improve the quality and purity of the oil. For example, some studies have used solvent extraction combined with membrane technology to deacidify rice bran oil, which helps to improve the degree of oil refining.
In the study conducted in Sri Lanka, researchers experimentally determined the key parameters required for rice bran oil extraction, including the use of Soxhlet extractors and pilot-scale leaching units, and the optimal conditions for selecting hexane as a solvent for extraction.
Green extraction technology has also shown great potential in rice bran oil extraction. Some studies have compared the effects of traditional extraction methods with green technologies such as cold pressing, supercritical carbon dioxide, and subcritical liquefied dimethyl ether extraction. The results show that subcritical liquefied dimethyl ether extraction can not only obtain a higher oil yield, but also has advantages in the content of bioactive substances such as γ-oryzanol, phytosterols and polyols, and has strong antioxidant properties.
Overall, rice bran oil extraction technology is developing in a more efficient and environmentally friendly direction. The application of new extraction technology helps to retain the nutrients in oils and improve the health value of the final product.
